MILLENNIUM JET INC
SOLO TREK XFV DUCTED ROTOR TEST

Image of a pilot wearing the millennium jet

In October 2, 2000 the Rotorcraft Aeromechanics Branch began the testing of the Millennium Jet Inc.'s SoloTrek XFV ducted rotor in the 7- by 10-Foot Wind Tunnel. The goal of this test was to provide data necessary to assist in the design code development. Additionally, surface flow visualization techniques (smoke, tufts and oil) were used to monitor flow patterns along the duct.

Two separate data acquisition systems were used to monitor various tunnel and model parameters during the test. Numerous structural and balance loads data were acquired and the safety of flight monitoring system were utilized to assure a safe wind tunnel test.
